Privacy Policy

1. In one paragraph

TableSnap runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, store or transmit the pages you visit, the tables you export, or anything about how you use it. There are no analytics and no telemetry. The only time the extension talks to a server is when you activate, validate or deactivate a Pro License Key, and that exchange contains the License Key, a non-identifying label (the product name plus your browser and operating system) and, after activation, the activation identifier assigned by the license service. Nothing else, ever. Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record, under its own privacy policy.

This Policy explains all of that in detail, and tells you what rights you have. It uses the same definitions and the same contact address as the Terms of Sale and the End User License Agreement.

2. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for the processing described in this Policy (other than the processing carried out by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record, section 6) is:

The Seller has not appointed a data protection officer, as the law does not require one for this activity. All questions about this Policy can be sent to support@plainwaretools.com.

3. Definitions

The following definitions are shared by this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Sale and the End User License Agreement.

4. The extension: zero collection

4.1 What the Software does

When you open the Software on a web page, it looks for tables in that page, shows you a list, and converts the table you pick into the format you choose (clipboard, CSV, XLSX, Markdown or JSON). All of this happens locally, on your device, inside your browser.

4.2 What the Software never does

The Seller has no technical means of seeing what you do with the Software.

4.3 Formal statement for the Chrome Web Store

For the purposes of the Chrome Web Store "Privacy practices" disclosure:

This extension does not collect or transmit any user data, with one optional exception: the Pro License Key and the non-identifying instance label described in section 5, which are sent to the license service only when you choose to activate, re-validate or deactivate a Pro License. In the Chrome Web Store data disclosure this exception is declared under "Authentication information"; no other category of data is collected.

The Software does not sell user data to third parties, does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose (extracting tables from the page you are viewing), and does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

5. The only network exchange: license activation and validation

This section applies only if you buy a Pro License. Free tier users never trigger any network request.

5.1 What is sent, and when

To check that a License Key is genuine, the Software sends a request to the Merchant of Record's license service (api.lemonsqueezy.com) over an encrypted HTTPS connection:

Each request contains:

As with any request on the internet, the license service necessarily sees the IP address from which the request is made. The Software adds no other information, and no information about the pages you visit or the tables you export is ever included.

5.2 What comes back, and where it is stored

The license service answers with the status of the License Key (valid, invalid, disabled, expired) and basic order information, which may include the name and email address attached to the order. The Software keeps only the status and the timestamps of the last checks, in Chrome's extension storage on your device (section 7), so that it does not have to check again at every use; it does not store the order information, the name or the email address. If the service cannot be reached, the Pro features keep working for a grace period of 14 days from the last successful check. If the service reports that the License Key is no longer valid, the Pro features stop immediately.

The Merchant of Record operates the license service and processes these requests as described in the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. The Seller can see, in its Lemon Squeezy dashboard, the list of activations attached to each License Key (instance name and activation date) and the license status.

Legal basis under the GDPR: performance of the contract concluded when you buy the Pro License (Article 6(1)(b)), and the Seller's legitimate interest in preventing fraudulent use of License Keys (Article 6(1)(f)).

6. Purchases through Lemon Squeezy

6.1 Data collected by the Merchant of Record

When you buy a Pro License, you place your order with Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy collects the data needed to process the order: name (optional), email address, billing country and postcode, payment details, tax number if provided, IP address, and order details. Lemon Squeezy processes this data as an independent controller under the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy and the Lemon Squeezy Buyer Terms. The Seller never receives your full payment card details.

6.2 What the Seller can see

In its Lemon Squeezy dashboard, the Seller can see: the order number, date and amount; the email address and name (if given) used at checkout; the billing country; the License Key issued; its activations (section 5.3); refund and invoice records; and the order data recorded at checkout, namely the confirmation that you requested immediate delivery of the digital content, the date and time at which you gave it and the version of the Terms of Sale you accepted (see the Terms of Sale, section 8).

The Seller uses this information to deliver and support the Pro License, to process refund requests, to prevent fraud and license abuse, and to meet its accounting and tax obligations.

6.4 Marketing

The Seller does not send newsletters or marketing emails. Your email address is used only for the order, the License Key and support.

7. Data stored locally on your device

The Software keeps a small amount of data in Chrome's extension storage on your device. This data never leaves your browser (it is not synchronised to your Google account by the Software) and is deleted when you uninstall the Software.

Export Content is saved where you choose (your Downloads folder or your clipboard). The Software keeps no copy of it.

8. The Website

The Website (https://plainwaretools.com) is a static site. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, uses no analytics and no trackers, embeds no social media widgets, and contains no contact form. The "Buy" link opens a pre-checkout page on the Website, which records nothing, and then takes you to the Lemon Squeezy checkout (section 6). When you tick the consent box on that page, the confirmation, its date and time and the version of the Terms of Sale are passed to Lemon Squeezy with your order (section 6.2); the Website itself keeps no record of it.

The Website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Les Acacias (Geneva), Switzerland. Like any web host, the hosting provider may keep short-lived technical server logs (IP address, requested page, date and time, browser type) for security and operational purposes, under its own privacy policy (infomaniak.com/en/legal/confidentiality-policy). The Seller does not access or analyse these logs, other than to investigate a security incident. Legal basis: the Seller's legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

9. Support email

When you write to support@plainwaretools.com, the Seller processes the data you include in your message (email address, name, order number, screenshots, description of your problem) to answer you. Please do not send more personal data than needed, and never send your payment details. Legal basis: performance of the contract or pre-contractual steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or the Seller's legitimate interest in answering questions from Free tier users (Article 6(1)(f)). Retention: up to 3 years after the last exchange. Emails are handled by the Seller's email provider as a processor.

10. Sharing and international transfers

The Seller never sells personal data and never shares it for advertising.

The only recipients of personal data are:

The Seller does not itself transfer personal data outside the European Union, other than by using the providers above.

11. Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another jurisdiction with similar rules, you have the right to:

To exercise your rights, email support@plainwaretools.com from the address used at checkout, or state your order number, so that the Seller can verify that the request comes from you. The Seller answers within one month, extendable by two months for complex requests, and informs you of any extension.

For data held by Lemon Squeezy (payment, invoices, account), you may also exercise your rights directly with Lemon Squeezy as described in its privacy policy; the Seller will forward your request if you send it to support@plainwaretools.com.

Because the Software collects nothing, there is no personal data to access or delete for Free tier users who have never contacted the Seller or bought a Pro License.

12. Security

The Software has no server component, so there is no database of user data to breach. License requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to the Lemon Squeezy dashboard is protected by strong authentication. The Seller stores order-related data only within the providers listed in section 10 and on encrypted devices.

13. Children

The Software and the Website are not directed at children under 15 (the age of digital consent in France) or under the applicable age in your country, and the Seller does not knowingly collect data from them. Since the Software collects no data, the only situation where a child's data could be processed is a purchase; purchases require a payment method and, for minors, the consent of a parent or guardian (see the Terms of Sale, section 4). A parent who believes their child has made a purchase can contact support@plainwaretools.com.

14. Chrome permissions explained

The Software requests exactly three permissions, and no access to specific websites:

The Software requests no host permissions (no "read and change all your data on all websites"), no access to tabs, history, cookies, downloads or identity, and no background access to any site.

15. Changes to this Policy

The Seller may update this Policy, for example if a provider changes or a new feature requires a new type of processing. The date at the top indicates the current version. Material changes will be announced on the Website and, for a change affecting a Pro License holder's data, by email to the address used at checkout. The Software's zero-collection commitment (section 4) will not be weakened without a new version of the Software that clearly informs you and asks for any consent the law requires.
